Wherever learning is taking place - in the class room, at college, in the work place, we see an increasing prominence of assessment and certification. To ensure public confidence in the quality of those qualifications, there is an extensive armoury of quality processes and procedures underpinned by regulation ensuring compliance to externally set standards.
Regulation seeks to guarantee fairness, value for money and the meeting of learners’ and employers’ needs and is a major way that accountability is delivered.
For those responsible for delivering examinations, compliance with regulation is a key facet of their operation. This one day seminar looked at the requirements and expectations of regulation and its impact on awarding bodies, professional associations and others involved in the design and delivery of qualifications. This is a necessary component in any professional setting, particularly for those whose regulatory tasks involve jobs appraisals, student assessment, professional evaluations, etc.
An expert panel of speakers was brought together, headed by a keynote address from Ofqual, to review all the aspects of regulation, how it is evolving and the factors driving that evolution
Objectives included
- To understand the issues around developing quality control and quality assurance of qualification and certification programmes.
To discuss the how the regulation is evolving and the implications for those designing and providing examinations and qualifications
To review the drive for recognition of professional and work based qualifications
To examine processes for ensuring compliance and regulatory approval.
To consider the impact of these development on grading and awarding of qualifications.
To share best practice, knowledge and experience.
- To understand the impact of compliance to the individual professional, the profession as a whole and the general public
